our huomintang.
Our eyes were not opened to all these
intrigues before March, and they were revealed only
recently. In our Party Purification Movement we should
see to it that the principles and policies of our President
are realized. It was owing to the power of our military
comrades that our kuomintang was not overthrow.
The
grave responsibility of our huomintang rests on the
shoulders of our military comrades; so all our military
comrades must be united."
(8) Next Tang Yin Wa, member of the Special Council
in reporting what had been done in the Party Purification
Movement said,
"Our Party Purification Movement was found necessary chiefly on the discovery of the intrigues the Communi sta
had devised to destroy our kuomintang. In their intrigues
the Communists first wanted to stir up dissension among
the members of our kuomintang by a distinction into
Leftists and Rightists, and secondly to mislead the two
large classes of workmen and peasants into trusting them-
selves to their management. when we were setting out on our Northern Expedition, they denied that the opportunity was ripe for the purpose, and when we had penetrated to wuhan, they did everything within their power to stop
our further advance. Later when we occupied Nanchang
and then Shan hai, they become very uneasy, and seeing
that the organisations of the Communists could not keep
pace with the development of our Northem Expedition,
they created disturbances forthwith, realing the inmost
nature of their arms. Thus our Party was compelled to
deal with them by drastic measures. On the night of
the 14th. April I sent out at once as directed armed
police to stop all land communications and to have all
telephone offices supervised; and at the same time all
